The June 23 webinar will feature representatives from The Governance Project, a community development nonprofit that has been a national leader in supporting local opportunity zone capacity.
The Governance Project is an innovative public-private model for accelerating policy solutions at the state and local level. They are national experts in opportunity zones and have collaborated with MNOppCo over the past year and a half. MNOppCo presented at a TGP-organized Vermont opportunity zones summit in September 2019, and now TGP is returning the favor by attending a MNOppCo webinar!
In this session, TGP will present its GroundUp model, an open access tool for easily modeling project finances for community development. Guest speakers include:
Stephanie Copeland – Chief Executive Officer, The Governance Project
Stephanie Copeland, joined the Governance Project as CEO and became a managing partner of Fourpoints Funding on January 1, 2019 after serving on Governor John Hickenlooper’s cabinet as the Executive Director for the Colorado Office of Economic Development for 2 years. While at the Office Economic Development, Stephanie initiated and implemented several programs including Startup Colorado, the formation of the Greater Colorado Venture Fund, the Opportunity Zone program for the state and the Governor’s Council for the advancement and acceleration of Blockchain technology.
Before this appointment, Stephanie spent over 26 years in the telecommunication industry both in the US and Europe. Her last role was as President of the Zayo Group, a communications infrastructure services firm. Stephanie served as a director for the Colorado Broadband Deployment Board, The Business Experiential Learning Commission, the Governor’s Blockchain Council and the Colorado Workforce Development Council. A Blackstone Entrepreneur, she also serves as an advisor to early stage companies in Colorado.
Yvonne Durbin –Program Director, The Governance Project
Yvonne Durbin is Program Director at The Governance Project. She comes to this role after working on development finance. She formerly served as the Global Finance and Operations Lead for One Acre Fund, a food stability focused social enterprise in East Africa. Prior to this she was Senior Associate for State Street Corporation’s compliance and risk management teams. She holds her Master’s in International Finance and Development Economics from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, at Tufts University.
Colin Higgins – Program Director, The Governance Project
Colin Higgins is Program Director at The Governance Project. He comes to this role with a background in policy research and implementation. Prior to The Governance Project, Colin directed environmental and economic policy for Abdul El-Sayed’s campaign for Governor of Michigan. He has previously worked on a variety of environmental initiatives, Rust Belt economic policy papers, and campaigns in Wisconsin. Colin earned his B.A. and M.P.A from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and received his MPhil from Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar.
