Attracting Investors’ Attention to Operating Business & Real Estate Projects
How do we get investors to focus on Minnesota deals?
Guest speakers included:
- Alice Tibbetts, North Shore Village
- Operating Business Seeking Equity Investment: Upon relocating from the Twin Cities to Silver Bay, MN, Alice and her business partner acquired property and have succeeded in launching a destination recreational business along Lake Superior’s North Shore: the North Shore Adventure Park. The initial phase, a high ropes course, opened in the spring of 2018 and has set the stage for coming phases of expansion to further change the landscape of Silver Bay’s tourism scene. The planned expansion is exciting and should provide equity investors positive IRR. How is this operating business positioning itself to gain investors’ attention? How will a QOF interact with this business’ model and growth plans?
- Peter Truog, The Opportunity Exchange [TOE]
- Peter founded TOE to work with actors across the U.S. Opportunity Zone ecosystem to make OZ investment as transparent, collaborative, efficient and impact-driven as possible. The on-line platform currently has over $4b worth of OZ projects listed, with approximately 400 investors registered as well. Having worked to advance inclusive economic growth in Northeast Ohio prior to launching TOE, Peter has been a tremendous partner to MNOppCo’s in its work across Minnesota. He will share insights about what he is seeing emerge across the 18 states currently served by TOE.
AND mark your calendars for the next webinar! MNOppCo‘s best practices webinars are every 3rd Tuesday at 1:30 pm.
MNOppCo gratefully acknowledges LISC, Local Initiatives Support Corporation, for hosting our Best Practices Webinar Series.
